The construction of the Király Baths was initiated in the 16th century, namely 1565, and the current state is largely a result of renovations and changes made during the Turkish period, such as the pool under the large cupola.

Once the Turkish left the country, upkeep ceased, and the building was finally bought and renovated in 1796 by the König family. Their name means “king” which is “király” in Hungarian, hence the name of the baths.

There are four pools in total, but the water itself is pumped in from the Lukács Baths.
